PHOENIX, ARIZ., — Dr. Zuhdi Jasser, Republican Candidate for Congress in AZ-04, released this statement following the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals decision yesterday requiring County Recorders in Arizona to reject state voter registration forms that lack proof of citizenship.

“This is a win for election integrity, and what I hope will be the first of many. This decision reaffirmed the obvious – that only American citizens should vote in Arizona elections. By ending the practice of Arizona officials being forced to help non-citizens vote federally, the decision empowers Arizona to uphold a minimum standard of integrity for our state elections. However, this further underscores the need for federal reform to ensure that only American citizens can vote in American elections – state and federal. When in Congress, I will support legislation like the SAVE Act to require proof of citizenship for all voter registrations and end the “federal only” loophole. Nothing draws a clearer line on election integrity between where I stand and Leftist Greg Stanton. He supports non-citizens voting and I oppose it.”

The SAVE (Safeguard American Voter Eligibility) Act was introduced by Representative Chip Roy of Texas and co-sponsored by 104 Republican members, including Arizona Representatives Andy Biggs, Eli Crane, Paul Gosar, and Debbie Lesko. It passed the House on July 10.
