ICYMI, I released my 8 point border plan a couple weeks ago (read it here!), just before the Senate released its bipartisan border “deal.” In contrast to my robust proposal that would crack down on every aspect of illegal immigration, this “deal” (which looks dead at this point) would insultingly allow 5,000 illegal migrants to cross daily, among other major loopholes. Any physician knows that complete and drastic measures are needed to stop a hemorrhage. Half measures won’t do.
Our district is only a few hundred miles from the southern border.
The I-10 is a main highway for trafficking, much of it stemming from cartel activity at the border. Our district is feeling not just the influx of illegal migrants who have escaped into Arizona – or been released with notices to appear – but we’ve also experienced the influx of drugs, including fentanyl. It’s a serious problem, and one that isn’t getting better any time soon.
Congressman Greg Stanton hasn’t just ignored the problem. He’s been negligent in fulfilling his duties to represent the needs and interests of our district. He has voted with Biden almost 100% of the time, putting party loyalty over Arizona time and time again.
He knows this is an issue of great importance to our district, so don’t be surprised if we see a new election-ready Stanton who has suddenly decided to care about the border. But don’t forget where he stood and how he voted when it mattered. Votes speak way louder than election-time talk.

My entire career, I’ve stood up for the right thing even when it put me at risk.
As a physician, I bucked the medical establishment in Arizona (of which I’ve been a member and leader), and kept my clinic open, serving patients during the entire pandemic. As an American muslim, I was the sole voice speaking out from within about the dangers of radical Islamism that were being allowed to take root and flourish to the destruction of America and American ideals. As a result I received death threats and became ostracized by much of my community.
When it comes to securing our border, I will have the boldness to take action, regardless of the political or personal ramifications.
